In the wake of Theo Steele's shocking death, Team Cedar has announced the addition of veteran plumber Teddy Skinner to fill the void—a move that has surprised longtime observers of the sport.
Skinner, 67, is a living legend in plumbing circles. His decades of experience include work on some of the most challenging projects in American history. But his best days, most assumed, were behind him.
“Heat it slow, stick it fast. That's enough.”

"When Dick called, I had to answer," Skinner explained at his introductory press conference. "Theo was a friend. His death demands answers, and his spot demands respect."
The veteran's recent circumstances have been humbling. After losing his home to foreclosure, Skinner has been living in what he calls "The Rusted Shell"—a converted camper van parked behind an abandoned gas station.
"I've got nothing left to lose," he acknowledged. "Just a camper, a toolbox, and thirty years of knowing exactly how to heat it slow and stick it fast. That's enough."
Critics question whether an aging competitor can keep pace with younger rivals. Skinner dismisses such concerns. "These kids think faster is better. I know that precision beats speed every time. Theo knew that too."
The addition reshuffles expectations for the Showdown. Team Cedar now features an unexpected mix of brash youth and grizzled experience.
"Teddy Skinner is either the missing piece or a desperate move," observed analyst Maria Santos. "We'll find out which in July."
Skinner, for his part, has already begun training. Neighbors report seeing him doing pipe exercises by flashlight well into the night.
